The Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry at the University of Alberta, in partnership with Alberta Health Services (AHS) in Edmonton, Alberta is inviting applications for a zone wide Staff Anesthesiologist position based primarily at the Sturgeon Community Hospital in St. Albert, Alberta.
A team of more than 160 department members, the Department of Anesthesiology is composed of physicians, anesthetists, scientists, educators and allied health professionals who provide services to ten Edmonton hospitals, and referrals from northern and western Alberta. We are a major referral centre for Northern Alberta and the Northwest Territories with a referral base of over 1.5 million people. The Anesthesiology group provides services to patients at the Cross Cancer Institute, Grey Nuns Community Hospital, Leduc Community Hospital, Misericordia Community Hospital, Royal Alexandra Hospital, Stollery Children’s Hospital, Sturgeon Community Hospital and the University of Alberta Hospital.
Located just north of Edmonton, the Sturgeon Community Hospital provides a wide variety of health services to the community of St. Albert and surrounding area. As a community hospital, the Sturgeon’s focus is on providing the best care in a comfortable, modern and friendly setting. Care provided includes emergency, women’s health, cardiac care, surgery, medicine, pediatrics, and rehabilitation.Qualifications:
The successful applicant requires an MD or equivalent degree and will hold certification in Anesthesiology with the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (or equivalent) and be eligible for licensure as a specialist in Anesthesiology with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. Applicants who have successfully completed a Canadian Obstetric Anesthesia Fellowship Program and/or Cardiac Anesthesiology Fellowship Program within the last two years will be preferred. Additional training in regional anesthesiology will be considered an asset.
The successful applicants will be expected to apply for an Academic Colleague Appointment in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine and be willing to be involved in resident teaching and clinical research facilitationCompensation:
