Research Associate Macro Strategy-18055623

The Associate will work within the Emerging Market FX & Local Markets (FXLM) research team and focus on China FX, rates and domestic bond market. Main responsibilities include developing and maintaining financial models and databases, following major China market developments, and assisting China FXLM research.


  • Supporting and interacting with internal colleagues (i.e. at CGMAL and other licensed Citi affiliates) as follows:
  • Compiling economic and market data into robust models, databases, and visual analytics
  • Assisting research products including primers, market updates, collaboration products with other research teams / asset classes, and innovative projects
  • Supporting senior analyst in responding to client requests
  • Following regulatory and policy changes in China with a basic understanding of markets implications




  • Technical/Specialist skills/competencies
  • Excellent financial / economic modelling & analytical skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Strong presentation and writing skills
  • High attention to detail in a fast paced environment

Personal Attributes/Interpersonal skills

  • Highly motivated, organized and detail oriented
  • A passion for macroeconomics, fixed income and currency markets, genuinely interested in a dynamic environment.
  • Highly numerate, inquisitive with a discerning personality
  • Team player


  • Undergraduate/graduate qualifications in economics, finance or related quantitative fields
  • Mandarin proficiency is required, especially reading proficiency
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in macroeconomics, fixed income or currencies research is preferred
