Role Outline/Job Summary
Citi Research in Buffalo is a full research office working with Equities Research, Fixed Income Research, Commodities Research, Equity Quant and Strategy teams. This role is part of the Innovation Lab team, which handles web-scraping, geospatial and data science projects for sectors across Citi Research.
We are looking to hire a Web Data Analyst (web scraper) to join the Web-scraping team. The successful candidate will work with the team and perform data extraction from major websites, public datasets, and subscription services to help identify trends and spot investment opportunities. The Web Data Analyst will be responsible for all aspects of the data collection, working with Analysts on requirements, building out the Web Scraping jobs using Kapow, collecting data, working with technology teams on loading the data and post data aggregation requirements in Oracle SQL. The candidate will be part of a global team, strategically located in the major regions to perform these duties.
Role & Responsibilities:
• Key Accountabilities:
o Act as a resource to Analyst teams in developing new proprietary datasets
o Interface with global team of Data Analysts to provide high level of service
o Act as curator of new datasets, documenting and performing quality checks
o Support of jobs that are built out to create new data sets
• Compliance Responsibilities
o Comply with the ethical standards contained in the Code of Conduct
o Adhere to firm policies and procedures, regulatory and legislative requirements
o Comply with Citi Research policies and procedures, and stay up to date with all training requirements
• Recognized Bachelor’s degree in any stream (such as IT, Sciences, Commerce, Arts)
• 1-3 years of relevant experience (using relevant software programs, programming tools etc.)
• Technical/Specialist skills/Competencies
o Exposure to a variety of software programs, analytical, statistical or programing tools a plus
o MS Office suite, including advanced Excel proficiency
o Prior skills with 3rd party web scraping tools like Mozenda, Kapow
o Regular Expressions and basic knowledge of HTML
o Knowledge of DOM Navigation using tools such as XPath or CSS selectors
o Experience in any SQL query language (Oracle SQL a plus)
