Provide medical care in primary care, emergency department coverage, acute care and extended care services.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
• Reside in and have as his/her primary residence, Fox Creek
• Establish and maintain a full time community based practice within the community
• Provision of extended hours (including evenings & weekends) of comprehensive care within the base community
• Provide hospital and call support as per call schedules, including equitable and fair participation in the Emergency Department and other call schedules as required
• Contribute to and participate in teaching programs and activities; interest in leadership
• Contribute to and participate in other administrative responsibilities as assigned
The successful candidate is recruited for the community of Fox Creek.
The successful candidate may choose to operate their business by joining an existing practice or opening their own practice. This is the candidate's independent business decision and will not be managed through the recruitment process.
Fox Creek is a vibrant community of approximately 2,400 residents and is located two and a half hours northwest of Edmonton on Highway 43. The Town acts as a strong service centre for the active oil and gas, mining and forestry industries surrounding the community.
Fox Creek, surrounded by beautiful forest, offers a vast variety of top notch outdoor activities. The Town is well known for its quading, hunting, fishing, ice fishing, incredibly groomed snowmobile trails and cross country skiing. Take a trip out to one of the two lakes located just minutes from Town to enjoy a day with the Family at the beach, a picnic by the water, day use camping area perfect for any summer event, two very well taken care of campgrounds that offer private sites and free firewood, boat docks and the opportunity for many water sports
Add to that, a full complement of recreation facilities; the scenic 9-Hole Silver Birch Golf Course with grass greens, and a clubhouse that offers great food, men’s and ladies nights and is host to many weekend tournaments. Tennis courts, baseball diamonds that come alive every June for our annual Slo-Pitch Tournament and regular season adult league, an outdoor swimming pool which will soon be replaced, that offers swimming lessons, aqua-size classes, public swims and many more different programs, a 4 sheet curling club that offers a men’s and ladies league, mixed league and a junior league and the Derald Palmer Arena that offers Hockey Tournaments, practices, games and public skating on a daily basis. Fox Creek has a well-equipped fitness centre, a paved walking trail, and the Don Nicholson natural walking trail; enjoyment for all ages.

Candidate must have independent Emergency Room & Acute Care Hospital Experience in Rural setting within the past 1-2 years
Preference will be given to applicants who do not require or have completed the CPSA Preliminary Clinical Assessment

Fee for Service
On Call Stipend - Physicians are remunerated for being on call in the Emergency Room. The rate is $23.84 an hour and is paid for a total of 14 hours on weekdays from 5 pm to 7am and 24 hours a day on weekends and statutory holidays. Frequency of on call shifts vary by community.
Alberta Medical Association (AMA) Incentives - A Flat Fee is paid to physicians who practice & reside in this community of $22,739.44 per year provided his/her annual income for insured services is greater than $50,000. (Residency conditions apply, including living in the eligible community for nine of the previous twelve months ending on the payment date.) The Variable Fee Premium paid is an additional 21.2% for insured services provided in this community. Rural, Remote, Northern Program (RRNP) - Please note, payments through the RRNP are capped at $60,000 per physician per year.
Medical Liability Reimbursement - reimburses physicians for their medical liability protection costs less a $1,000 deductible.
Continuing Medical Education - reimburses physicians for eligible continuing medical education costs. Each eligible physician receives a $2,656 annual allotment which can be carried forward for up to three years.
Parental Leave Program - provides $1,063 per week for up to 17 weeks to physician parents of a newborn or newly adopted child.
Business Cost Program - addresses escalating practice costs in community based practices. This fee modifier is added automatically to select office visits and consultations. This program applies across the province and all physicians who provide visit services in an office based setting will receive an additional $2.75 with the exception of Calgary and Airdrie where the fee modifier is $3.25 on select office visits and consultations.
