Product Management Group Manager


Head  - Investment Products, Advisory and Communication is a strategic leadership role in the Retail Bank's Wealth Management Business. Key responsibility of the individual is to achieve business financial objectives by developing & driving the overall Investments strategy through continuous product and  platform development, client coverage on portfolio reviews and communicating the investment strategy to internal and external clients through properties like the Wealth Management Insights (view on markets and asset classes) and Total Wealth Access (performance summary & asset allocation with rebalancing suggestions).


A) Investment Product Head for Mutual Funds, PMS & AMF, B) Product Manager for Bonds & FIS,c)Head of Investment Strategy & Communication and)  Head of Portfolio Counselors, report to this role. The investment team comprises of 14 people, across direct and indirect reports and is present across 3 locations. The role reports into the Retail Bank Head. In addition to product development , the position is also responsible  for the marketing of these products to the Retail customer segments by partnering with Branch Banking Heads, Investment Specialists, Segments Team, Digital Banking, as well as managing working relationships with business partners like Asset Management Companies, Vendors, Industry bodies etc.


Other Key stakeholders for the role are O&T, Sales Planning, Finance to manage the execution platform and continuously enhance processes to increase efficiency for this line of business. This is delivered in partnership with Control Functions ( CBORC, L&C, AML, FRM, ORM). The investments team is responsible for building the infrastructure / processes / systems to support the WM business and align it with internal policies (RDIP 2.1) and external regulatory environment as prescribed by RBI and SEBI, including adapting to changes recommended by them from time to time.

  • AMC Partner & Product Identification from a universe of 20+ fund houses across Mutual Funds, Alternates, PMS etc. and responsible for initial diligence, prior to regional recommendation for approvals. Maintaining the key product programs and ensuring their periodic renewal.      
  • Developing sales strategy, basis product set and market conditions, and supporting delivery of the sales through the network
  • Devising marketing and client campaigns and ensuring superior client engagement, including expeditious resolution of client escalations and improving processes & systems to  address the root cause for these issues.
  • Maintaining adherence to the controls framework through effective conduct of Business Investment Committee, MCAs and internal and external audits.
  • Conveying regulatory changes to the team and ensuring adherence to support the strong controls culture.
  • Maintaining the operational framework to conduct business and ensure continuous improvement & simplification of processes ike transaction execution, clients call backs, surveillance and driving digital adoption with RMs and clients.
  • Automating key activities of the business through systems tools and checks, like commission accruals & liquidation, investment unit holding reconciliation, RDIP compliance, straight through transaction processing etc.
  • Introduction of Digital tools like Hello -Transaction Corner, Investments on Mobile, TWA,  for better remote client engagement by RMs.
  • To also develop digital tools for mass-affluent and increase investment penetration in the Suvidha ( Salaried) client base without any RM intervention.
  • Managing the financial accounting for the business with engagement with the Operations, Finance and Tax team . 
  • Responsible to negotiate commercial terms with AMCs,  ensure NIL ageing on receivables and adherence to tax requirements.                                             
  • Being aware of market practices and competition and protecting the business from external threats                                                             
  • Client meetings to support efforts of portfolio counselors ad facilitating their client access through the retail bank leadership team
  • Developing fund short lists, portfolio strategies for both sales as well as in market events like sharp corrections, maintaining model portfolio and rebalancing guidelines and driving portfolio actins through tools like TWA. Developing a real time and digital  client communication strategy for better engagement and sharing of insights for customers
  • Maintaining 3rd party relationships wit AMC partners, vendors, service providers, negotiation of commercials and contracts and periodic review and renewal of the relationship, including annual AMC diligence. India has 20+ local partners which are managed in country and hence global contracts cannot be leveraged.
  • Managing relationships with other departments of the bank like CCB, CPB to support them on their investment business.
