A permanent opportunity has arisen within NHS Highland's Procurement Department for an ambitious, highly motivated and hard working individual to come and join our team as a Procurement Manager. Our Procurement Team has a current PCIP (Procurement and Commercial Improvement Programme) rating of A+ and we were proud to be a finalist in the 2018 GO Awards Procurement Team of the Year Award.

Due to the continuing drive for budgetary efficiencies across the public sector, the role that Procurement plays in helping to reduce, spend and deliver best value is more important than ever. This post will be instrumental in leading our efforts to control spend, deliver efficiencies and track savings through the management of numerous healthcare, scientific and professional service commodities, undertaking tendering exercises and implementing new contracts, some in collaboration with other boards and public sector partners.

The successful candidate will be expected to engage with our many key stakeholders including NHS Highland staff, other Health Boards, the Scottish Government, Suppliers and representing NHS Highland at a regional and national level always striving to ensure best value is achieved and that products and services secured are high quality and meet our clinical requirements. The role will involve establishing and managing project groups to ensure the implementation and change management process for a wide range of commodities, is supported throughout all of NHS Highland. Candidates will be expected to manage a portfolio of contracts, working closely with suppliers to ensure that issues are resolved quickly and to find opportunities to save money, all whilst maintaining a strong and positive working relationship. Identifying opportunities to streamline processes and develop efficiencies with key suppliers and the rest of the Procurement team will be a key task for the successful candidate.

The role will also involve analysing and interrogating procurement data and developing reports to monitor departmental KPIs, therefore a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, and a high standard of computer based literacy is essential.
