The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, in partnership with Alberta Health Services (AHS) invites applicants to apply for a contingent Assistant Professor within the Division of Pediatric Cardiology in the Department of Pediatrics.
The successful applicant will join seventeen academic pediatric cardiologists providing a full spectrum of clinical pediatric cardiology services. In addition to clinical care, the division is active in teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and has a fully accredited Pediatric Cardiology subspecialty-training program through the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. We have an active basic and clinical science program, collaborating locally, nationally and internationally.
This is a fractional 0.8 FTE position, with additional time commitment negotiable. The position profile will require 60% clinical service and 40% academic pursuits: the latter will include both teaching and research. Research can be in any area within Pediatric Cardiology, but MRI specific research is considered desirable in this role. Interested applicants must hold an MD and must have completed a subspecialty residency in Pediatric Cardiology, and be certified or eligible to become a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (see the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada http://www.royalcollege.ca/public/credentials/routes) for more information on various routes of credentialing. Subspecialty training in Cardiac Imaging, specifically Pediatric & Congenital Cardiac MRI as well as echocardiography, are required for this position, and additional basic science training in Cardiac MRI physics (including graduate coursework) will be a further asset. The successful candidate must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA).Compensation:
