About the role

Support the stream leader in developing the strategic direction to the Forensic Mental Health research program.  This position participates in a working environment supporting quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, workplace health and safety and ethical behaviour.

About You

You will be someone with a demonstrated thorough understanding of the required research process.  You will have demonstrated research, analysis and report writing skills as well as high-level interpersonal and negotiating skills.

About the Team

Established in 1987, the Queensland Centre for Mental Health Research (QCMHR) is Queensland's premier mental health research facility.  The work conducted at QCMHR aims to reduce the level of disability associated with mental illness through research which leads to more effective mental health services and interventions, the identification and reduction of risk factors, and the development of researchers in the field of mental health.

Based at The Park – Centre for Mental Health, QCMHR is hosted by MHSS with West Moreton Health Service.  It maintains a strong partnership with The University of Queensland's Queensland Brain Institute and the School of Public Health, the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, and Brisbane Diamantina Health Partners.

Key priority areas for QCMHR research include:

  • Forensic Mental Health
  • Policy and Epidemiology
  • Child and Youth Mental Health
  • Social Inclusion and Recovery
  • Epidemiology and Clinical Trials
  • Psychiatric Genomics; and
  • Developmental Neurobiology
