About the role

Deliver high level clinical services applying evidence based principles in undertaking triage, assessment, short term treatment and risk management alongside clients with acute needs of both emerging and chronic mental health conditions.  Operate with a high degree of independence and autonomy, primarily in a community setting in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards within the relevant legislation.

About You

You will be someone with demonstrated high level of social work clinical practice and skills to conduct triage, clinical assessment, intervention in an acute environment within the current legislative and policy context of an adult mental health service.  You will have demonstrated high level interpersonal skills to collaborate, problem solve and negotiate effectively with consumers and their significant others, colleagues, key stakeholders and members of the community to achieve positive mental health outcomes for consumers.

About the Team

The Acute Care Team has five core functions:

  1. 1300 MH CALL service which provides 7 day a week extended hours telephone tirage service for accessing Adult Mental Health Services in West Moreton
  2. Acute Care Emergency Department providing a triage-intake and assessment of patients identifies as requiring a mental health consult within the emergency Department of Ipswich Hospital
  3. Community Assessment & Treatment component which provides community mental health assessments, brief interventions and short-term treatment options for up to 6 weeks primarily in consumers own residence/environment
  4. Consultation Liaison Psychiatry for the assessment of people whose primary concern is for medical/surgical interventions in Ipswich Hospital.
  5. Co-Responder position in conjunction with the Queensland Police Service provide an extended hours service focusing on early intervention in a mental health crisis situation.

  •  have been vaccinated against the VPD's listed in the role description; or
