The Role

Permanent full time and various temporary positions are available for Clinical Nurses to join the Acute Care Team within Mental Health Specialist Services at Gold Coast Health (GCH).

You will take responsibility for  

Providing consumer focused and evidence based nursing care to support mental health consumers, including the following:

  • Being the first point of consumer contact to provide mental health education, support, information, advice and referral
  • Developing positive consumer relationships founded on hope and recovery
  • Systematic intake, crisis intervention and assessment
  • Screening admissions to acute psychiatric inpatient services
  • Providing for continuity of service through referrals and community based treatment
  • Providing consultation and specialised targeted intervention
  • Integrating between various sites, services and programs to facilitate service efficiency and responsiveness
  • Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams

Requirements for the role

  • Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent
  • AHPRA registration
  • Appointment or eligibility for appointment as an Authorised Mental Health Practitioner under the Mental Health Act 2016
  • Post graduate qualifications or commitment to obtain
  • Be and remain, vaccinated against measles, mumps, rubella, varicella (chicken pox), pertussis (whooping cough) and hepatitis B
  • This position requires the incumbent to work rotational shift work including nights and weekends

Salary information

  • Permanent full time, temporary full time (up to 12 months with possibility of extension)
  • Base salary ranging from $89 990 - $96 361 p.a., $3449.30 - $3696.50 p.f.
  • Up to 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading

About Us

Mental Health and Specialist Services (MHSS) provide integrated hospital and community specialised mental health assessment and treatment services across the age-spectrum.  Our services aim to be consumer focused and recovery oriented. 

The Acute Care Team (ACT) is to be the first point of contact for the GCHHS Mental Health Service to provide education, support, information, advice and referral. ACT is a mobile assertive outreach crisis response team that offers a range of short-term options tailored to meet individual needs in the community which may also include acute care in the immediate post discharge phase of an inpatient admission. ACT operate a continuous 7 days a week, 24 hours a day roster across variety of locations.
