Responsibilities/Duties:

LOCUM RADIATION ONCOLOGIST required, Tom Baker Cancer Centre, CALGARY

The Tom Baker Cancer Centre (TBCC) in Calgary is seeking a LOCUM Radiation Oncologist for the term of 6-12 months, starting as soon as possible. Clinical activities will include breast and GI disease sites.

The TBCC is a full-service, academic cancer centre with 20 Radiation Oncologists, 8 linear accelerators, and both LDR and HDR brachytherapy capacity. The TBCC hosts the provincial Alberta Radiosurgery Centre and expanding programs for lung, liver and spine SBRT. There are close interdisciplinary working relationships with Medical, Surgical, Gynecologic, Hematologic and Psychosocial Oncology, Palliative Care, and Medical Physics.

The University of Calgary’s Radiation Oncology Residency Training Program, post-residency Radiation Oncology fellowships and post-graduate programs in Surgical, Medical, Gynecologic, and Hematologic Oncology and Palliative Medicine are all active at TBCC. There are opportunities to teach medical students, residents and fellows from a variety of disciplines.

Calgary is a growing city with a vibrant cultural scene and ready access to outdoor activities in Kananaskis Country (1 hour from TBCC) and Banff, Lake Louise and the Rockies (1.5 hours).

Start date:

The start date is as soon as you can make yourself available, including securing a license to practice medicine as a specialist in Alberta.

Qualifications:

You must have an MD degree and Canadian specialist certification in Radiation Oncology, or the equivalent. You must be eligible for licensure as a specialist by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and for appointment to the medical staff of Alberta Health Services. Preference will be given to Canadian citizens or those with permanent resident status.

Compensation:

Remuneration will depend on clinical experience and comply with the agreement between Cancer Control Alberta, Alberta Health Services and the Alberta Medical Association. The duration of the locum will be a minimum of 6 months. Further details are available upon request. Radiation Oncologists may be either AHS employees or independent contractors.
