The NAM Finance Desk Technology team is part of the Global Finance Desk department within the Institutional Clients Group (ICG).  The current team covers the NAM Finance Desk (Fixed Income) in NY, in conjunction with London and offshore development teams.

The suite of Finance Desk applications provides position management, trade capture, electronic trading and reporting.  This is supported by a mixed technology environment consisting of client-server applications, developed in Java and C#, with services running on Linux servers against Oracle and Sybase data servers and front-ends running on Windows. This position provides unique opportunity for candidate to work closely with business stakeholders, global development teams and to implement the strategic solutions for the business problems.We are looking for candidates with strong business knowledge with development background who can co-ordinate with multiple stakeholders and take ownership in delivering solutions.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        Job Responsibilities·         Participate in key business initiatives from the development side, focusing on the Trade Processing and Position Management functionality.·         Provides business analysis for new requirements and  translates business use cases into appropriate technology system change requirements.·         Understands business priorities, documents requirements and determines solutions in partnership with other internal teams.·         Provide business as usual (BAU) coverage for the NAM Finance Desk, including generating ad-hoc reports and covering general support queries.·         Consults with users, clients and other technology groups on issues and recommends advanced programming solutions; installs and supports customer exposure systems.·         Accountable for all phases of development process—analysis, design, construction, testing and implementation; provides user and operational support on applications to business users.·         Solves / works complex problems / projects through in-depth evaluation of business processes, system processes and industry standards; performs root cause analyses.·         Provides sound understanding of apps development concepts and principles and a basic knowledge of concepts and principles in other technology areas.·         Ensures essential procedures are followed and helps to define operating standards and processes.·         Applies comprehensive understanding of how multiple areas collectively integrate within apps development to contribute towards achieving business objectives.·         Acts as advisor or coach to new or lower level analysts.·         Directly impacts the business by ensuring the quality of work provided by self and others; impacts own team and closely related work teams.·         Exhibits sound and comprehensive communication skills to exchange complex information.
Qualifications
 

 Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science / Information Technology or a related field, or substantial practical experience of software development and delivery
  • Experience in writing code,preferably in Java
  • Experience with Relational Databases, SQL and writing Stored Procedures and Scripts
  • Strong Understanding of Fixed Income products  (more specifically Repos, Bonds)
  • Experience in defining, documenting business strategies/requirements
  • Strong oral/written communication skills and ability to facilitate discussions.
  • Experience in working with distributed teams situated globally in different geographies.
  • Familiar with Agile development/Software life cycle
  • Testing experience in distributed software applications.
  • Knowledge of tools, concepts and methodologies of QA
