Purpose of the role:

In conjunction with local health workers and other primary health care staff, play a key role in optimising the health and well-being of children and families across the TCHHS south-east area through:

  • the delivery of a high level, psycho-social and early intervention support service for children and families with complex needs, especially those at risk of entering/ re-entering the statutory child protection system;
  • the provision of advice and support on relevant early intervention and parenting issues to key stakeholders in the continuum of care for children and families; and
  • the provision of support to Queensland Health and Partner Organisation staff to maintain their roles and responsibilities in relation to recognising, responding to and reporting suspected child abuse and neglect.

 

  • Appointment to this position requires proof of tertiary qualification in either psychology or social work, to be provided to the employing service prior to commencement of duty. Psychologists must be registered (or eligible for registration) with the Psychologists Board of Australia. Social Workers must be eligible for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
  • Potential applicants are advised that the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian Act 2000 requires Queensland Health to seek a ‘working with children check'; from the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian prior to appointment to this position.
  • It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated/immune against the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment: measles, mumps, rubella, varicella (chicken pox), pertussis (whooping cough), hepatitis B.
