About the role:

The Safety and Wellbeing Advisor in the HR Directorate, HSQ reports to the Principal HR Business Partner. This role contributes to and assists in developing, coordinating and delivering professional work health and safety, risk management requirements and wellbeing services to businesses in HSQ. This role is also technically informed and supported by the Safety Systems and Strategy leads. In addition, this role works in alignment with HSQ strategic values and operational priorities to achieve consistent and relevant state-wide work health and safety and wellbeing practices and performance outcomes.

What we are looking for:

  • High-level communication and negotiation skills and ability to effectively consult and engage with clients and stakeholders within a multidisciplinary environment working across a functional matrix structure.

  • Technical knowledge and skills in the area of health and safety legislation, standards and guidelines with experience in audit, investigation, problem solving and risk management to provide client focused solutions on safety issues.

  • Experience in conducting health and safety site inspections, coordinating regulatory compliance, reviewing safety systems and implementing quality assurance checks across a complex and geographically dispersed organisation.

  • Experience providing high level written documentation including correspondence, briefs and reports.

  • Ability to work autonomously and collaborate with others in a positive team work environment while contributing to problem resolution and continuous improvement initiatives.
