About the Role

The Nurse Manager is a senior level clinician who is responsible for the provision of advanced practice level nursing services for a defined clinical area or specialty.  The Nurse Manager coordinates the multidisciplinary team and its contribution to quality care provision.  The Nurse Manager may be enrolled in an accredited university program which will lead to endorsement as Nurse Practitioner and, as such will be under the supervision of a clinical mentor. The Nurse Manager, Clinical Governance and Improvement will provide advanced management and leadership skills, supporting the clinical units throughout the relevant division. It will provide coordination and guidance, supporting operational and strategic departmental goals; assisting the clinical units in obtaining benchmarks, maintaining standards and optimising patient/divisional outcomes.

  • Demonstrate sound knowledge of contemporary nursing practice and apply theory to practice in the delivery of direct or indirect clinical care.
  • Demonstrate sound knowledge of, and the ability to apply relevant legislation, guidelines and standards and ensure clinical practice is evidence based to facilitate positive outcomes.
  • Integrate and operationalise key objectives and strategies for a work based culture that promotes and supports education, learning, research and workforce development.
  • Coordinate, formulate and direct policies relating to the provision of nursing care or speciality services which includes integration of patient care across the continuum of care (inpatient and ambulatory care).
  • Maintain high level interpersonal and communication skills with members of the health care team, patients/clients/residents and visitors to the service.
