The role:  
The Analyst Intern is responsible for the provision and analysis of health and health related data, assisting in the production of statistical and technical reports, and provision of reporting and statistical support for internal and external clients of the Queensland Department of Health.  Specifically, this role will be required to extract, manipulate, interpret and communicate the data results appropriately to clients.   The role is also required to assist in production of statistical report for use in corporate, whole-of-government and national publications, and assist with providing information and advice to support decision making in policy, planning and service delivery areas.

What we are looking for:
To be considered for this role, you will have previous experience working with data in a similar role within a large complex work environment.  Specifically, you will have demonstrated numerical and analytical skills and knowledge of basic statistics and experience in using computer spreadsheets, statistical and word-processing packages.   As an expert communicator, you will be able to take complex information and communicate it to a non-technical audience, and engage effectively across all levels of the organisation and with external organisations and professional groups.  Knowledge and understanding of the health sector and processing of health-related statistical data would be desirable.  You will thrive in an environment where you can identify and implement improvements and where your work helps drive better health outcomes for Queenslanders.

About Us
Statistical Analysis and Linkage is one of four units in the Statistical Services Branch and is responsible for the linkage and analysis of data of several major corporate health-related data collections. The data are used for health services planning, research into diseases, monitoring standards of care, and national reporting requirements.
