Connect Care Area Trainers (ATs) are practitioner-users of the Connect Care clinical information system (CIS) in one or more areas of clinical specialization. ATs are recruited, trained and supported to instruct and support peers (in their own or similar clinical area or specialty) in safe and acceptable CIS use while promoting transformation and clinical improvement.
Accordingly, they work closely with zone medical leadership and co-report to relevant Associate Chief Medical Information Officers (ACMIOs). It is possible for Physician Design Leads, MILs, other physician roles or physician contributors to extend their Connect Care commitment by adding an AT role for a larger overall FTE allocation.
ATs are guided by CMIO Provincial Training team who have provincial scope and responsibility for design of curriculum content that can be adapted to clinical area and facility needs.
Approximately 160 hours over a period of 6 months inclusive of training. Fractioning of the role can occur at the discretion of the ACMIO.
Reports through Associate Chief Medical Information Officers with support from the Alberta Health Services (AHS) CMIO Portfolio.

Area Trainers are interested in training their physician colleagues and are excited to positively contribute to the further refinement of physician training.
Area Trainers will receive training specific to their role and to develop proficiency with Connect Care to facilitate productive communications and interactions. Additionally they will participate in teach backs as preparation for training delivery. Training will begin in late May 2019.
Area Trainers will train End Users and Super Users for their roles as well as delivering formal training to physicians on connect care including basic training, personalization & optimization.
Area Trainers are some of the most effective individuals to have for launch support due to their extensive knowledge of the system and experience in training their colleagues. ATs available to provide launch support have the opportunity to have a make a huge impact in the successful launch of Connect Care in their implementation wave.
