Job Purpose: Lead the Pune Equity Derivatives and Delta 1 IT Team
Pune is a critical centre for Equity Derivatives and Delta 1 Technology at Citi. The Pune team make a fundamental contribution to several regulatory and strategic programs; taking a lead role in the effort required for MiFID2 being a recent example. In order to continue to respond to Citi’s core objective of building the Equity business there is a need to continue to grow the team, expand the functional remit and increase the team’s responsibility/impact.
The Pune EQ IT team has grown considerably over the past 2-3 years. A core requirement will be to develop the structure and seniority of the Pune EQ IT management team so as to be able to meet the increasing demand and expectation placed upon the team.
Accordingly, it will be critical for the successful candidate to be able to successfully develop the key incumbent individuals throughout the team as well as identifying the key areas of deficiency and address the gaps through selective, targeted hiring/mobility.
Maintaining and developing a culture of success and attainment throughout the team will be fundamental to the role. Understanding, demonstrating and communicating Citi’s leadership principles and values will be critical. Foremost of the Citi leadership competencies fundamental to this role are firstly a focus on quality and productivity – it will be essential to drive a culture of excellence, ensuring absolute focus on architecture, design and code-quality thereby improving productivity – and secondly a deep understanding of the platform strategy – it is imperative that the strategic execution responsibility of the Pune team is maximised and that the team is appropriately skilled and motivated to undertake the enhanced remit.
It will be essential for the successful candidate to be able to collaborate with his/her peers on a global basis. The EQ IT team is global in nature with most teams present across multiple regions – the cross regional team and program dependencies are complex and require careful and successful navigation.
It will be essential for the successful candidate to assume a leadership responsibility contributing to site-wide markets technology initiatives, representing Equities technology at the Pune senior leadership meetings.
In addition to the site lead responsibilities it will be critical for the successful candidate to also undertake an additional, business-aligned functional role. There will be flexibility with regards to this element of the role as the specifics will be a reflection of the successful candidate’s skill set and experience. However, it is recognised that for the successful candidate’s long term career trajectory and development prospects this element of the role is critical. Accordingly, it will be essential for the successful candidate to develop senior business relationships, understand business strategy and develop/deliver an aligned technology strategy. Though it is anticipated that the team responsible for this delivery will be primarily Pune-based, it is inevitable that it will be a globally distributed team.

Furthermore, with the addition of the functional role our objective is to be unequivocal in terms of identifying someone with not only the ability to grow and develop a large IT organisation but to also assume a critical global business-aligned responsibility taking direct ownership for a core element of the Equity technology strategy.
