Marketing Manager / Sr. Marketing Manager, Proprietary Lending Products   Overview
The Marketing Manager / Sr. Marketing Manager, Lending Products is a critical role in the lending team within Canada. It provides a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of the changing lending landscape within American Express and the Canadian business. You’ll be tasked with driving the business forward through sustainable product development, wise product ownership as well as keen eye for competitive differentiation.   In this role you will work closely across a group of critical partners including GCO, compliance, NPD, GSN, technology and central lending to create and enact a robust product line strategy, ensure alignment and drive the execution of a variety of marketing initiatives, new product enhancements and migrations for a diverse product suite.   You are a master relationship builder, bring a strategic vision, a love of financial analysis and can-do attitude to your work and revel in creating products that deliver a meaningful customer value and experience that in turn drives customer engagement.   The Lending team is a dynamic group focused on proprietary products as well as core traditional growth drivers and building capabilities for the future. This position will play a critical role working across the local and central lending teams and building relevant products and services within our market.   Product Management – Seamless integration and collaboration with partners teams on refreshes and launches
  • inspired daily management of the lending suite of products

  Analytics into strategy – Interpret internal and external data, identify opportunities and recommend business strategy.
  • Identifying current and future consumer needs

  • Translate external influences (regulatory, technology, economic & consumer trends) into opportunities or threats
  • Idea generation
  • Analyze size of opportunity for refreshed and new products
  • Assess financials / business case for refreshed and new products
  Project Management – Develop and implement key capabilities to support growth
  • Lead major change
  • Understand and follow internal new product development (NPD) processes end-to-end
  • Work closely across a variety of partners including NPD, technology and central lending
  • Masterful and anticipatory risk and issues management

Qualifications
 Required Skills:
Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in:
  • Selecting, reviewing, analyzing diverse data sets related to business performance (e.g. financial performance, competitive data)
  • Interpretation of complex data in order to develop compelling business cases
  • Proven ability to take initiative and champion a project from concept through to implementation and post implementation evaluation
  • Idea generation to strategy development excellence
  • Incrementally complex relationship management
  This will include:
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
  • Ability to rally partner teams to drive results and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills with emphasis on developing strategic project overviews for presentation to internal teams up to senior management levels
  • Ability to identify and track key project milestones
  • Proactive ability to anticipate project risks and issues and ensure adequate mitigation is put in place to ensure delivery is not compromised
  • Strong relationship management, influencing and collaboration skills
  • Consumer financial services (Cards, Rewards) experience a plus
  • Proven analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Must be a “power user” of Excel, Visio and Power Point and be comfortable with the rest of the Microsoft Office suite
  Qualifications:
Bachelors University degree requiredMBA or MA specializing in Marketing, Economics or Finance would be considered an asset
