What you'll be doing

The Child and Family Health Nurse works within a multi-disciplinary team as part of the NSLHD Child and Family Health Service. The Child and Family Health Nurse strives to maintain, improve and promote the optimal health and wellbeing of children and their families within the NSLHD community. Sound clinical judgement and effective communication skills are utilised in caring for families. The Child and Family Health Nurse is considerate to individual and cultural values, and endeavours to empower families through a sensitive and flexible approach to service delivery.  

Employees must abide by the NSW Health Code of Conduct. Criminal record checks will be undertaken on successful applicants and applicants for positions designated as Category A will be required to obtain required vaccinations prior to commencing employment. 

 

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
  1. Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them.
  2. NSW Registered Nurse with AHPRA. Current drivers licence recognised in NSW.
  3. Recognised post graduate qualifications in Child and Family Health or equivalent experience.
  4. Demonstrated understanding of the principles and practices used when providing health services to families in their homes.
  5. Ability to demonstrate counselling skills, group facilitation skills and working in partnership with families.
  6. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with clients, colleagues and other professionals both verbal and written.
  8. Understanding of the principles of primary health care in the context of Child and Family Health Nursing.
