Position Summary and Objective:
The ASEAN eCommerce Product Development Manager, based in Kuala Lumpur will take a lead role in formulating innovative and sustainable solutions for new opportunities, ensuring replication of deal successes and managing client issues for client retention. His/her focus as an individual contributor will be ASEAN countries (Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia).
He/she will also be responsible for creating a structure and approach, which will enable the ASEAN team as well as regional and functional partners to manage new opportunities & replicate successes across different regions/ sectors which will assist ASEAN TTS to hit its ambitious growth targets. The lead will also lead on resolving client issues with ASEAN in timely and satisfactory manner. The learnings of the types of client issues and root cause will be filtered back into the Product team to create awareness and enable systemic reduction of client issues.
To allow for optimised solutioning and quicker resolution of issues, the individual will have to work and build consensus among the product peers, Regional Product, CSM, Client delivery, Ops, Tech, Risk and Compliance partners. He/she may also need to pursue development in-coordination with the Tech and Capabilities manager.
The individual will need to keep themselves abreast of all latest developments within the Product to allow them to act as SMEs on deal solutioning and client issues. The team will also make them available for client presentation and pitches where necessary.
Given the team’s market facing roles, they will have access to markets trends, changing client requirements and product gaps. The team is expected will filter this information to the product team for the Product development roadmap. Further, the team will also assist in segment packaging for sales collateral.
The job reports to the Head of ASEAN Payments and Receivables.
Play a leadership role in driving deal origination, wins and client retention by:
Participate in client pitches and workshops for high value and strategic deals
Structure an engagement model with Sales, Regional Product, Operations, Technology, Client delivery, Risk and Compliance which will assist deal solutioning and client issue management
Drive deal success replication across ASEAN – Lead forums & communications to highlight best practice, wins and replication opportunities
Assist in the packaging of comprehensive solutions to eCommerce clients, based on Citi’s set of capabilities to address client needs
Ensure value proposition clearly defined for each key segment
Develop Balanced Scorecard that addresses key client buying drivers by segment and region
Assist in competitive analysis of current product capabilities, positioning and pricing. Highlight functionality gaps and market trends for Product development roadmap
Identify new product capability requirements through definition of key functionality needs & quantification of market opportunity (via Sales and Market Management)
Assist in launching and commercialization of new capabilities
Participation in industry and client round-tables to demonstrate thought leadership and to assess opportunities and requirements
Drive key initiatives identified for the ASEAN countries including regulatory projects to be implemented by translating market requirements into business requirements; communicate the requirements and track the execution of initiatives
Leadership role in a leading transaction services/ cash management bank
Enhance strategic capabilities given assessment of ASEAN market and client segment priorities
Senior exposure across TTS organization which will provide professional and growth opportunities
Stakeholder exposure and experience
Working on high value, high profile deals and client facing issues that impact the core of the product revenue & net income
Experience in a very complex payments solution relevant to eCommerce clients segments across ASEAN

Skill/ Knowledge/ Experience:
Understanding of Payments and Receivables product features, functionalities and limitations to maximize solution flexibility and accelerate client issue resolution
Ability to work closely and build trust with clients and partners internally and externally, understanding and anticipating client needs
Knowledge of Operations and/or Technology architectures and/or Payments infrastructure/systems
Knowledge of Product Management disciplines, including the ability to undertake and lead a number of projects to drive commercial returns and successful prioritization of client requests
Strong problem solver and structured execution
Knowledge and experience of commercial business disciplines and operating models underpinning transaction banking/ cash management products
Strong research skills coupled with an ability to quickly and accurately analyze information, draw conclusions and present data-driven findings in written and oral presentation format.
Deep industry knowledge of Payment products and systems & client’s needs and behavior
At least 4 years’ experience at a VP or above level in a Cash Management, Trade or Securities Business, in a commercial business and/or operational environment
Ability to work closely and build trust with senior management
