Asset Based Finance Originations Associate

 

Description

 

Citi’s Commercial Asset Based Finance (ABF) team is one of the specialty products organized under the Structured Credit and Derivative Sales vertical for the U.S. Citi Commercial Bank (CCB). Citi’s U.S. CCB ABF team is primarily responsible for the origination and portfolio management of asset-secured, working capital facilities for U.S. CCB client relationships.

The CCB’s ABF team is currently seeking an Originations Associate.  This individual will be responsible for supporting the new business effort of dedicated ABF Originators who transact middle-market asset based lending relationships within the U.S. CCB, with typical transaction sizes of $35 million to $500 million, including both bilateral and syndicated credit facilities.  This is an Associate level role that will work as part of a team directly supporting multiple Senior Originators and ultimately report to the ABF Business Head.  Experienced Analysts will also be considered for the role.

 

Asset Based Lending – Originations Associate will be responsible for the following:

 

  1. Deal Sourcing & Prospecting

  • Manage and update Pipeline

  • Update Prospect Database

    • Periodic database update (Thomson Reuters/Refinitiv, ABF Journal, LPC)

    • Periodic market calls

    • Prospect research (contacts, industry, comps)

  • Create pitch materials

  • Quarterly External and Internal Presentation updates (new closed deal slides, market analysis)

  • Various Originator requests

 

  1. Prospect/Pipeline Qualification

  • Prepare & analyze CAT as well as LevFin Spreads

  • Prepare & analyze initial collateral quality

  • Assist with facility and BBC structuring

  • Prepare Returns analysis

  • Assist in the Socialization and Greenlight Memos

 

  1. ABF Originations Management Reporting

  • Monthly Mid-Corporate Calling Activity report

  • Quarterly BUR deck

  • Quarterly Lost Deal Analysis

  • Quarterly Originator Scorecards

  • Quarterly Sales Productivity/Profitability Analysis

  • Periodic Prospecting Initiatives

  • Periodic Marketing Consent Tracker on new deals

  • Periodic Revenue and Fee Analyses

  • Various ABF educational decks for internal presentations

 

Asset Based Lending – Originations Associate should have these skills

 

  • Basic understanding of sales prospecting

  • Basic understanding to analyze financial statements and collateral

  • Basic understanding of various asset based loan structures

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, both internally and with clients

  • Ability to demonstrate being a self-starter, well-organized, detail-oriented, and “can-do” attitude

  • Works well independently and in a fast-paced environment, while managing time efficiently across multiple priorities

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)



Qualifications
 

Requirements

 

  • 2+ years of experience working in a banking environment, preferably in asset based lending role

  • Knowledge of SalesForce.com a plus

  • Formal credit-training also a plus
