Key Responsibilities

 

Overall management

  • An in-country role supporting the Head of Department and line manager in developing and implementing communications strategies and PR programs to build and protect the reputation of the Bank both externally and internally, and to position the Global Consumer Banking business as the industry leader
  • Ensure all legal, regulatory and compliance issues are addressed in all communications undertaken on behalf of the businesses
  • Monitor and manage budgets to specific briefs
  • Maintain up-to-date logs and proper record-keeping

Media Relations

  • Ability to implement effective media relations strategies and successfully pitch for story ideas to secure positive coverage in the press for the Bank
  • Experience in advising senior management and approved spokespeople on media opportunities and issues as they develop
  • Experience in drafting key messages, press releases, announcements, speech writing as well as preparing briefing documents and talking points for senior management to facilitate media interviews and engagement
  • Effective management of day-to-day media queries
  • Ability to organise and execute end-to-end media briefings and product/service launches covering creative designs, written materials, logistics and on-site management among others

Social Media

  • Good knowledge of social media landscape and understanding of the style when communicating via the different platforms

Issues and Crisis Management

  • Formulate positioning statements to manage business issues that may pose reputational risk to the franchise

Industry Awards

  • Monitor and identify the relevant industry awards for the business
  • Have extensive experience in writing awards proposals and pitch submissions

Internal Communications

  • Take the lead on internal communication and support the business in conveying key messages and engaging staff through various platforms such as townhalls, intranet, e-newsletter among others

Others

  • Provide communication support for the wider Corporate Affairs team as and when it’s required including but not limited to community relations, customer and staff events among others


Qualifications
 

Skills and Knowledge Required

 

Technical:

  • 6-8 years working experience in a MNC’s corporate affairs department, in a PR agency or in journalism
  • Relevant degree
  • Outstanding written English skills
  • Understanding of how media work and news values, with established business and tech media contacts
  • Ability to build good relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and problem-solve
  • Proactive, creative and innovative with strong interpersonal, strategic, analytical and communication skills
  • Good computer and web skills, and knowledge in using tools such as publishing and content management systems will be preferred
  • Good knowledge of banking is required
