 Job Description:
Senior member of the Capital Risk Management and Review (“CRMR”) team with responsibilities for regional coverage in EMEA and Asia. The position reports to the Global Head for CRMR.
Key Responsibilities: 
  • Establish strong and effective relationships with a network of regional key stakeholders, partnering with senior colleagues in 
    • Finance-Capital Advisory Group
    • Accounting Policy
    • Legal
    • Independent Risk Management including Credit, Market and Convergence Risk, Quantitative Risk and Stress Testing (“QRS”), and Fundamental Credit Risk
    • Corporate Reporting
    • Business First Line
  • Establish and maintain strong and effective relationships with US and International regulators for Basel-related topics
  • Serve as a key regional liaison with Internal Audit (IA) and external auditors on all significant Basel related issues
  • Collaborate in the ongoing maintenance of appropriate Basel-related capital policies
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of a central repository for Basel related interpretations and review results
  • Support the CRMR Global head on a wide spectrum of Risk management and governance activities related to Risk and Basel Capital
  • Represent CRMR in New Product Approval and similar governance committees for the approval of new and complex transactions
  • Represent CBNA for risk governance

Interpretive Activities: 
  • Drive the interpretive process for Basel III Risk Weighted Asset (“RWA”) measurement, providing effective and credible challenge to first line decisions for both the Standardized and Advanced Approaches
  • Together with QRS and the Business, ensure that internal and regulatory capital treatment for new products and complex transactions are consistent and that differences are appropriately explained

Review Activities: 
  • Participate as appropriate in independent reviews to provide assurance of compliance with the U.S. Basel III Final Rules
  • Through such reviews and in partnership with QRS, provide assurance that internal and regulatory capital treatment are consistent for Credit Risk and Market Risk, with differences appropriately explained, and that capital treatment is applied consistently on a global basis
  • Monitor and report on remediation of issues raised requiring a Corrective Action Plan

  • Strong understanding of the credit and market risk issues impacting regulatory and risk capital, as well as governance of the Basel capital process

 Skills and Competencies:
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred 
  • 10+ years of work experience in the financial industry, preferably with risk management experience with credit risk, market risk and/or regulatory capital experience
  • Understanding of the underwriting, structuring, pricing and syndication and hedging of bank financing products (including derivatives and Securitized Financing Transactions), as well as risk management practices, is preferred
  • Basic knowledge of Basel III and RWA 
  • Knowledge of Citi’s markets businesses is preferred
  • Excellent executive level communication skills are required: verbal, written and presentation, with ability to articulate complex concepts and translate into "user-friendly" language. 
  • Experience on virtual teams, preferably in a global / complex / matrix organization, and ability to manage through influence
  • Proven track record of delivering results and strategic initiatives in a complex environment
  • Experience interacting with regulators
  • Ability to deliver difficult messages in a professional manner
  • A transformational mindset to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the processes
