Trainee Advanced Specialist Practitioner, Oncology
Our Oncology Team are developing our services and seeking an enthusiastic, highly skilled and motivated Trainee Specialist Practitioner (ASP) in Oncology. This is an exciting development opportunity for an individual with experience in oncology and general medical management, to develop specialist, advanced skills in the management of oncology based conditions, supported with academic learning and clinical supervision.
This workforce innovation will offer a post within the specialty of oncology, to support the oncology ward, chemotherapy day case unit and outpatient oncology clinics. You will have significant oncology and leadership experience and a willingness to undertake your masters and further study..
The candidate will become an Advanced Specialist Practitioner, educated at masters level within advanced clinical practice. If the candidate does not already have this level of qualification, you will be supported through a Masters Degree in Advanced Clinical Practice, in addition to time spent developing clinical skills under the supervision of Consultant oncologists.
The post holder will also be expected to develop a portfolio to support their competence, developing clinical skills under the supervision of a Consultant Oncologist and placements in the medical and surgical divisions. Regular teaching sessions to support these competencies are delivered in house.
Trainees will be on AfC band 7, using Annex 21 whilst training, which will be reviewed and increased to a full band 8a once the MSc, specific competencies relating to oncology and a period of consolidation/internship are completed.
