SPECIALTY RESEARCH DOCTOR
NHS HIGHLAND CLINICAL RESEARCH FACILITY
CENTRE FOR HEALTH SCIENCE
1 x Part time post, 24 hours per week incorporating 1 SPA (initially fixed term – 1 year)
£39,846 - £74,304 per annum pro rata, with prior experience recognised
An opportunity has arisen in the NHS Highland Research Development and Innovation Division for a second part time Research Specialty Doctor.
The NHS Highland Research Development and Innovation Division is a corporate level department serving a catchment area of almost 10,000 square miles covering the entire Scottish Highlands and Argyll & Bute with a total population of over 330000. The Division supports clinical research in all specialisms (around 130 – 150 recruiting and in follow-up), and is focussed in a purpose built Clinical Research Facility that has four treatment rooms, blood prep area and freezer room, and delivers drug and device trials, as well as other clinical studies. Infusions are regularly given, and there is a mixture of Phase 2, 3 and 4 studies of both commercial and academic funding types.
This new post would support our existing Research Speciality Doctor in contributing to the delivery of clinical trials. It would also be expected that the successful candidate would, dependent on experience and background, be a sub-PI or PI on a number of these trials. Other aspects of the post include a willingness to develop new ideas and innovations for a variety of research and service redesign aspects.
The post is part time and would be for 24 hours a week incorporating a 4 hour SPA, and would be expected to largely cover the hours when the existing doctor was not in clinic, and to cover holidays so that there would always be a specialty research doctor available during the weeks when the other doctor was on holidays.
There is a team of 9 clinical research nurses, 2 data managers, clinical administrative support as well as a co-located governance and admin team, and a dedicated research pharmacy.
We would especially welcome applications from candidates with a primary care background.
Informal enquiries would be welcomed by Frances Hines Research Development and Innovation Manager on 01463 255822 or at firstname.lastname@example.org
A job pack for this post is available from, and should be returned to email@example.com quoting ref MS15.19.29. Completed applications should be returned by 16th August 2019
