Lead Pharmacist - Medicines Safety, Governance and Medicines Information

This is an exciting opportunity to lead on the Medicines Safety, Governance and Information agenda in the Trust. As the Trust Medication Safety Officer, you will lead the work to improve the quality systems and governance around the safe use of medicines in the Trust. You will play an active role in audit and assurance programmes in relation to medicines management, drive improvements in medication incident reporting and thematic analysis, identify and drive local patient safety initiatives and lead on implementation of national medication safety initiatives.

This is a highly visible role in our organisation working to establish and promote a culture of learning in line with our improvement methodology.

The post holder will also manage the Medicines Information Service, overseeing and developing the Medicines Information service in line with the changing requirements of modern health services and developing technologies, patient medication safety and medicines optimisation agendas.

Barking, Havering and Redbridge Hospitals NHS Trust operates across three main sites at Barking, Queen’s and King George Hospitals. The Trust serves a population of around 700,000, from a wide range of social and ethnic groups, making it one of the largest acute hospital trusts in England.

The Trust is undergoing a transformation of its clinical services with new developments and opportunities both for pharmacists and technicians. We are seeking an experienced practising Senior Clinical Pharmacist within a Hospital Pharmacy with demonstrable experience in managing medication safety as well as experience of providing Medicines Information Services. The post holder will have highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including formal presentations and report writing.

You must be registered with the RPSGB and have a minimum of 3 years’ relevant post registration hospital experience.

You will be joining one of the five trusts across the country chosen by NHS Improvement to partner with the Virginia Mason Institute, join us in shaping our organisation and make a difference.
