Grade: 70% of top of band 4 until February 2021 (£16,632), and then 75% of top of band 4 for second year of PTPT training (£17,820) (Annex U)

The Pharmacy Department is currently recruiting Pre-Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians to work on rotation at King George Hospital, Goodmayes and Queen’s Hospital, Romford,
You must have a good general education, with 5 GCSEs (Grade C/4 or above, including Maths, English and at least one Science subject). A Level 2 Pharmacy qualification is desirable
If you are short listed you will be invited to attend an assessment session in Maths and English, in advance of the Interview date. If you are successful at this assessment, you will then be invited to interview.
You must be hard working, enthusiastic, have good communication and interpersonal skills, enjoy working with people and always pay close attention to detail.
You will participate in a two-year, training programme to gain the underpinning knowledge and practical skills to enable you to achieve the new Level 3 Diploma in Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians qualification.
You will start in September 2019 as a Band 4 annex U Pharmacy Assistant and then progress to be a Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician in February 2020, when the new training course becomes available.
As a PTPT you must be prepared and able to commit to 8 – 10 hours minimum home based self-study per week in addition to your normal working hours.
You will be subject to a 6 month probationary period, and progression to the second year of the course is dependent upon satisfactory completion of the first year.
You will be allocated your own Educational Supervisor who will support and encourage you throughout your training, and a peripatetic assessor who will identify your training and assessment requirements.
In the pharmacy, you will gain experience in all aspects of pharmacy services including dispensing for wards and outpatients, provision of advice to patients on actions and uses of medicines, medicines optimisation, stock management and procurement, and accredited checking.
You must be able to work as part of a team and demonstrate good organisational skills in order to cope with studying and working full time..
As a Preregistration Trainee Pharmacy Technician you will be expected to comply with the GPhC Standards for Pharmacy Professionals at all times.
Upon successful completion of this two year training programme you will be eligible for registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacy Technician.
