Under the supervision of the Director of Behavioral Health, Manager or designee, the Behavioral Health Assessor performs comprehensive, face to face or tele-medicine based behavioral health assessments, psycho-education and interventions with patients who are receiving services for various psychological, behavioral or substance related disturbances in an effort to implement and facilitate the appropriate level of service. The therapist provides therapy using diverse therapy modalities and specialties areas (i.e., group counseling, individual counseling, family counseling, couples counseling, crisis counseling, seminars, and workshops). These services may be provided in various locations including Emergency Departments (Resource Team), intake offices, doctor-s offices, Outpatient Counseling Services (OCS), Community Court Services (CCS), medical floors and in the community. The Behavioral Health Therapist may be called upon assist with marketing of WellStar Health System Behavioral Health Services to the five-county service community, to speak in public, conduct an in-service training or assist in the orientation of new hires.


Required Minimum Education

Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling or other discipline; or a graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.

Required Minimum Licensure: LMSW, LAPC, LMFT or RN with a Georgia License. LCSW or LPC preferred. BLS required.

Required Minimum Experience

Minimum 3 years of clinical practice/experience in crisis-related mental health field preferred.

Required Minimum Skills

The Behavioral Health Therapist must possess good organizational skills. Demonstrate effective and appropriate verbal/written communication skills. Demonstrate the ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team model. Possesses knowledge of effective Crisis Management Techniques. Professional skills must be maintained through formal education and/or attendance at professional workshops and in-services. The Behavioral Health Therapist must demonstrate computer literacy. Preferred Skills Knowledge of Mental Health/Substance Abuse case management and treatment interventions. Working knowledge of community resources. Excellent assessment and disposition planning skills.
