This is an exciting time to join the Care of the Elderly department, which is looking to appoint two Care of the Elderly Consultant Physicians (one of which will be an Orthogeriatrician), expanding the team to seven consultants. This is to realise the vision of enhancing models of care provided to non-elective patients, improving the Orthogeriatric service and developing other specialised geriatric services e.g. Parkinsons Disease service.
The new consultant workforce plan for Care of the Elderly Medicine is a principle priority of the Unscheduled Care Division’s clinical strategy- a commitment to increasing the consultant workforce to deliver enhanced care in new ways, in line with clinical evidence, ensuring early and consistent input by consultants to improve patient outcomes and deliver an effective consultant led rehabilitation service. The department is looking to appoint an Orthogeriatrician and also a Consultant with a special interest in Parkinsons disease or any other area relevant to Care of the Elderly.
The successful candidates will join a well-established team of five Care of the Elderly Consultants, progressing Care of the Elderly Medicine for Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre residents across Blackpool Victoria Hospital (Three Care of the Elderly Inpatient Wards) and Clifton Hospital (Rehabilitation- Three Inpatient wards).
The post holder will be employed by Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
