What you'll be doing
The vision for South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) is ‘exceptional care, healthier lives’. SESLHD is committed to enabling our community to be healthy and well, and to providing the best possible compassionate care when people need it.
To provide Child and Family Health Nursing services to families with children aged 0-5 years within the context of current policies and ‘best practice”. Child and Family health nursing is a comprehensive service that promotes health and wellbeing of the child by working in partnership with families. This involves undertaking physical, emotional and psychological assessments to identify family vulnerabilities and strengths to enable early identification and interventions. The Child and Family Health Nurse provides this service in clinics, central intake, family care cottages and in the home setting. 

Selected Criteria

  1. Current registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Midwife with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency- AHPRA and Current unrestricted NSW driver’s Licence
  2. Specific qualifications in Child and Family Health Nursing or working towards.
  3. Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work in partnership with families within a primary health care setting.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and apply professional and ethical boundaries when dealing with complex situations.
  6. Demonstrated understanding of breast feeding and lactation.
  7. Basic computer skills and proven ability to use health information systems.
  8. Detailed knowledge and understanding of risk management, safety and quality principles and the role of the Registered Nurse/Midwife in applying these principles.
