We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic band 6 Physiotherapist to join our respiratory therapy team.  You would be part of a large, dynamic and supportive team that includes a Consultant physiotherapist in respiratory medicine.

The current rotations are within the following specialties:                    

  •  GICU
  • Cardiothoracic
  • General surgery
  • Medicine- including High Dependency Unit
  • Medicine – acute wards with a rehabilitation focus
  • Acute medical Unit
  • Adult cystic fibrosis
  • Respiratory centre  - Domiciliary NIV/Outpatients
  • Respiratory Centre – COPD / Community
  • Respiratory Centre - Asthma
  • Medicine for Older People

The successful applicant should have relevant postgraduate respiratory clinical experience with a desire to develop their knowledge and skills in the respiratory care of patients with a wide range of pathologies. Excellent support will be given towards continual learning and professional development, including undertaking regular audits.

The post holder will be expected to lead the therapy team in the absence of the band 7s, be involved in the teaching programme, service development, student supervision and the development of Band 2-5 therapy staff. All staff are expected to work flexibly to support a 7-day service.

 By joining this team you will be part of a combined therapy services department of over 200 staff, consisting of B2-4 therapy support staff, occupational therapists and physiotherapists. We are a Foundation Trust and one of the largest Teaching Hospitals in Europe. This is a unique opportunity for the right person.

Getting to Work

Application can be made for parking on site at UHS or through one of the park and ride schemes.  This will be based on specific criteria to determine eligibility for site parking as this can be very limited.  UHS encourages staff to utilise other green methods of getting to work such as cycling or walking where possible.   UHS is well connected through bus services to the city centre and other areas.
