LEAD PHARMACIST (RESPIRATORY AND GI)
Full Time Fixed Term or Secondment Opportunity (Until end October 2020)
Salary Scale £45,446 - £51,883 per annum
We would like to invite applications from enthusiastic and motivated pharmacists to join our clinical pharmacy team as the Lead Pharmacist for Respiratory and Gastroenterology. We are looking for a dynamic pharmacist who can work with both the pharmacy team and the multidisciplinary team to provide high quality pharmaceutical care to the specialties within Respiratory and Gastroenterology and develop these services.
You will be responsible for providing professional leadership to the pharmacy team working in Respiratory and Gastroenterology and prioritising the pharmacy services. You will provide a specialist clinical pharmacy service to one or both of these areas.
As a lead pharmacist you will contribute to quality improvement projects. You will also be required to work with medicines governance groups within the organisation e.g. ADTC, formulary. You will also work with the service leads, medicines management team and finance team to manage the introduction of new medicines in your area and promote cost effective use of medicines.
Training and education is a priority for the department and for 1 day a week you will work within the Highland Pharmacy Education & Research Centre (HPERC) to support the Education & Training agenda. You will develop key inter-Board links in the North of Scotland as well as work with a number of Universities and NES to develop, organise and deliver education for both pharmacy and non-pharmacy staff and students. You will be asked to take a lead in the teaching of undergraduate medical students and work with other HPERC staff to design and develop new innovative interprofessional education between pharmacy and medical students, including having a role in audit and research of new teaching. We also encourage our team to undertake further training and aim to support this as much as possible.
You will be a registered pharmacist with a Masters Degree in Pharmacy and relevant post-registration experience. You should have completed the Pharmacy Vocational Training Scheme (Foundation Training) or have equivalent clinical experience, a post graduate qualification in clinical pharmacy and independent prescribing qualification is also required. You should have excellent communication and inter-personal skills and be able to work as part of a team. Experience of development of training programmes and delivery of teaching would be beneficial. You may be required to participate in an emergency on-call rota and occasional weekend working and public holidays.
