Registered Nurse – ICU

John Hunter Hospital, Newcastle NSW

General Intensive Care and Paediatric Intensive Care

 

 

The John Hunter Hospital’s Intensive Care Service is a part of the Critical Care Service with the Emergency Department, Hunter Retrieval Service and the OrganTissue and Donation Service. The Intensive Care Service is divided into two units. The General Intensive Care (GICU) which includes the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).

 

The Intensive Care Service provides critical care service to Newcastle and the Lower Hunter.

 

It is also the Tertiary referral Intensive care unit for Hunter New England and Mid North Coast Local Health Districts.

 

The GICU is resourced to provide specialised medical, nursing, and allied health care for 23 intensive care patients (thirteen high acuity and eight of lower acuity).


The PICU provides an eight beds for critically ill children.
