An opportunity has arisen within the Pathology Department at Diana Princess of Wales Hospital for a band 5 Trainee/Registered Biomedical Scientist. The post will be based in the Blood Sciences laboratory at Diana Princess of Wales Hospital Grimsby. The successful applicant will be required to work in all sections of the laboratory including Clinical Chemistry, Haematology and Blood Transfusion within a multi- disciplinary department including out of hours working. The department is equipped with Roche Cobas chemistry and immunoassay analysers, IL TOPS coagulation analysers, Sysmex Haematology and Innova blood grouping analysers.

Previous Laboratory experience would be an advantage. Candidates should have HCPC registration and IBMS registration portfolio for a band 5 registered BMS. Consideration may be given to candidates working towards completing the registration portfolio.

You will be required to have good communication and keyboard skills, and the ability to work under pressure. Although initial training will be supervised by Biomedical Scientists, once fully trained, you should be capable of working independently. Participation in the 7 day, 24hr shift service is a requirement of the post.

The Pathology department at the Diana Princess of Wales hospital is part of the Path Links NHS Pathology service.
