Kuala Lumpur is the nation’s capital and will take you to Malaysia’s political and economic center. Kuala Lumpur is not only the capital, but also the largest city of this dynamic Southeast Asian nation.
Kuala Lumpur is located a mere 35km from Malaysia’s west coast. Together with Selangor, the city stretches throughout the Klang Valley. Kuala Lumpur is framed by the Titiwanga Mountains in the east and the Strait of Malacca in the west.
Malay, or Bahasa Melayu is the national language. English is the second language, widely spoken, and is taught in schools. Other Languages spoken are Chinese (Mandarin, Hokkien, Teochew, Hakka, Cantonese, Khek, etc), Tamil, Thai and others.
The lifestyle here is progressively becoming more and more modern with great exposure to the western culture. In Kuala Lumpur in particular, the way of life does not stray too far away from what is happening in the Western world now.
Malaysia is the meeting point of many diverse cultures, followed by people from various parts of the world. Malaysia truly is a melting pot of diversity and beauty. It boasts beautiful beaches and ancient, unsullied landscapes – but also rapidly growing cities with cutting edge architecture and world leading shopping facilities. Despite their many different backgrounds, Malaysians live in harmony.
The country experiences tropical weather year-round. Temperatures are from 21ºC (70ºF) to 32ºC (90ºF). Higher elevations are much colder with temperatures between 15°C (59° F) to 25°C (77°F). Annual rainfall varies from 2,000mm to 2,500mm.
